TABLE OF CONTENTS
Table of Contents: This option is used to create book index with help of page headings.


Let's start an example ...

1. Create three pages of content in Microsoft Word.

2. Insert heading on every page.

Note: To convert selected text in headings (Home - > Heading 1)



3. Now place the cursor on the first page.

4. Click on "Reference" Menu.

5. Click on "Table of Contents" option.

6. Click on "Automatic Table 1"



5. As you click on "Automatic Table 1" it will create the page index with help of page headings.

6. Here you can see all page headings with the page number.

7. Now just "Ctrl + Left Click" on any page heading, which you want to visit.


Update Table: This option is used to update the selected table contents. For example, you will more new headings then they will not add automatically to your table, to add them you have to update the table.





FOOTNOTES

Insert Footnote: Footnotes are associated with a particular word, so its an additional detail that adds in the selected word and all the footnotes are store at the end of this document.


EXAMPLE OF FOOTNOTE


Note: As you point the word which contains footnote, will show its footnote details like below example.
Apple the word and "It's a fruit" in its footnote. 






Insert End-note: This option is used to insert a note, just after the last text line.


CAPTION
Insert Caption: This option is used to create and insert the repeating words, like (Figure 1, Figure 2, Figure 3, and so on) and by default, the three captions are already existed (Figure, Equation, Table)

Let's start it, with an example ...

Suppose we want to create a question paper and to create this document, we need to insert (Question 1, Question 2, Question 3)  So here we can easily create this document by use of  Microsoft word's caption feature.

STEPS FOR CAPTION
1. Click on "Reference" menu.

2. Click on "Insert Caption" tool.

3. Click on "New Label" button.

4. Type "Question" under "Label"

5. Click on "Ok" button.




HOW TO DELETE A CAPTION
1. Click on "Reference" menu.

2. Click on "Insert Caption" tool.

3. Select the caption (which you want to delete) under the "Label" drop-down list.

4. Click on "Delete Label" button.
