GENERATION OF COMPUTER
Computer can be divide in five categories and all the five generation of computers are described below.




FIRST GENERATION OF COMPUTERS
The first generation of computers emerged in 1940 - 1956 and the other features of first generation computers are described below. 

Main Device: Vacuum Tubes
Examples: UNIVAC, ENIAC
I/O Devices: N/A

ENIAC: Electronic Numerical Integrator And Computer.



SECOND GENERATION COMPUTERS
The second generation computers emerged in 1956 - 1963 and the other features of second generation computers are described below.

Main Device: Transistor
I/O Devices: N/A


THIRD GENERATION COMPUTERS
The third generation of computers emerged in 1964 - 1971 and other features  of third generation computers  are described below.

Main Device: Integrated Circuit

FOURTH GENERATION COMPUTERS
The fourth generation of computers emerged in 1972- 2010 and the other features of fourth generation of computer are described below. 

Main Device: Microprocessor

Examples: Desktop, Laptop, Palmtop

FIFTH GENERATIONS COMPUTERS
The fifth generation of computers emerged in 2010 and other features of fifth generation of computers are described below.

Main Device: Artificial Intelligence
